  • Small extensions

Extending the kitchen, master bedroom and family room are the most common room extensions. These three rooms are usually the most important to home owners because those are the rooms where they spend the most time. If these rooms are on the outer edges of your home, then it will be easier to knock down the existing wall and construct a new one out into the available space. You can use the same materials and colours that already exist in your room, or add completely different elements by replacing the entire wall with glazing units such as bi-folding doors.

  • Single storey extensions

Extending your home with a single storey extension, as opposed to moving to a new residence, can prove to be a more economical solution that suits both your present needs and those you may have in the future. A new, single storey extension is an excellent investment that will always add value to your home, and will provide you with additional internal space.

All plumbing and electrical works are carried out by us here at HRM Construction to the highest possible standards, and in accordance with best practice. All work is certified on completion by a professional whom is accredited by the appropriate professional body, Gas Safety Register and NICEIC.

Our plumbing services include boiler replacement, central heating installation, bathroom installation and under floor heating installation.

All work is fully installed and commissioned using registered tradesmen and Gas Safe engineers.

Loft conversions

Loft conversions

Converting your loft is one of the most cost-effective ways of improving your home. It will increase your living space and the value of your property. Converting your loft or attic is often a better and less stressful alternative than moving home or building an extension.

Types of loft extensions:

  • Rear dormer conversion

A rear dormer conversion is where a box section is formed out of your existing roof structure. This is the most ideal way of maximising the space in your loft. You should be aware that a rear dormer conversion is only possible if your top of ridge is a minimum of 2.3 metres in height.

  • Front and side dormer conversion

This is where a dormer is pitched to the rear of your property as bedroom space, with a dormer to the side to allow for a staircase. This is relevant when you have a hipped roof, and your top of ridge is a minimum of 2.6 metres in height.

  • Hip to gable / gable up conversion

This is when your roof is hipped and the hip is removed and built up to a gable end. This will allow you to add a full-width rear dormer, Velux-only or pitched dormer.

  • Velux-only

A Velux-only conversion is where you keep your existing roof structure and add Velux windows. This is the least expensive way of converting your loft.

  • Cut and pitch conversion

A cut and pitch conversion is where a dormer is built with a pitched roof. For this, a minimum height of 2.6 metres is required to top of ridge.

A cut and pitch conversion is particularly suitable for larger properties.

  • Mansard conversion

A Mansard conversion is where the roof structure has two different degrees of pitch. This allows for more useable space within your conversion. This would normally involve the removal of the existing roof, and re-pitching it as a Mansard.
